The first National Observatory on Sustainable Made in Italy Innovation was created by Sustainable Fashion Innovation Society in collaboration with Impresapiens, the official research center of Sapienza University of Rome.

The Observatory was created to map the state of the art of the sustainable transition in Italy, from the most important Italian and international companies in various sectors. At the moment, the Observatory has 35 member companies and institutions, including dozens of tech start-ups, SMEs, large companies and national and international institutions. The Observatory is multi-sectoral, with a prevalence of members coming from the fashion, tourism, energy, luxury, design and lifestyle sectors. The total turnover of the companies adhering to the Observatory is more than 6 billion euros with more than 9,000 total employees.

The Observatory annually publishes a scientific research written by Sapienza University and presented at Phygital Sustainability Expo®.

The 2024 edition of the Observatory is entitled “Vestire il Futuro. Le interazioni vitali come fonte d’innovazione: Il caso della Sustainable fashion Innovation society.”, published by Giappichelli editor. This scientific research is also the textbook of the Master in Management - Department of Management, Faculty of Economics - Sapienza University.

The National Observatory on Sustainable Made in Italy Innovation stands as a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the global positioning of Italian craftsmanship. By adopting an integrated approach that combines technology, sustainability, and networking, the Observatory aspires to become a virtuous model of promotion and innovation for the Italian production system.
